Kate Fox is a Tasmania-based producer and location manager with over two decades of experience.

Kate Fox has spent over two decades building a career across television, publishing, and digital media, collecting credits, stories, and a slightly alarming ability to make things happen under pressure.
She started young (18, to be exact) as a production assistant on Sydney Weekender, and quickly worked her way through newsrooms, magazine publishing, and into production, picking up a Postgraduate qualification in Journalism along the way, just to formalise what she was already doing instinctively.
Since relocating to Tasmania in 2014, Kate has become a key part of the state’s screen industry, working across high-end scripted series including Deadloch, Bay of Fires, Rosehaven, The Gloaming, Prosper, and The Survivors. Her work in location management and production has seen her navigate everything from remote wilderness shoots to large-scale international productions, often simultaneously solving problems no-one else saw coming.
In parallel, Kate has built a producing slate that reflects her instinct for bold, character-driven storytelling.
Her background is unusually hybrid, spanning scripted, unscripted, editorial, production, live production, and digital strategy, which means she approaches storytelling with both creative intuition and structural precision. Whether she’s shaping a narrative, running a set, or negotiating access, she brings the same core skill: knowing what matters, and how to get it on screen.
In 2018, Kate was selected for Screen Producers Australia’s Ones to Watch program, recognising her as an emerging producing talent within the national industry.
She has also produced commercials, live broadcasts (including the Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race), short films, proof of concepts, and content across multiple platforms, proof that she’s as comfortable in controlled chaos as she is in carefully crafted storytelling.
At her core, Kate is drawn to stories that are a little dangerous, projects that sit in moral grey areas, challenge audiences, and resist easy answers. Kate is based in Tasmania, where she continues to champion local stories, local crews, and the idea that you can make world-class work from the edge of the map.
Kate is the Tasmanian state representative on the board of Australian Location Managers Guild (ALMG), and committee member of TaFA (Tasmanian Filmmakers Alliance).
If you’re working on something bold, strange, or slightly risky, you’re probably my kind of person. I’m always open to a conversation, whether it’s a fully formed project or just the spark of one. Get in touch and let’s see what happens!
